These totally unique pitch pine dining tables with benches and/or pews to match are made from matching reclaimed pews rescued from a church in Staffordshire that was about to be demolished. Ed has taken the pews and after a lot of hard work and skill, turned them into these pieces of furniture. Each piece has been cleaned thoroughly, stripped, lightly sanded and Danish oil applied to bring out the grain. He has resisted the temptation to sand off the marks of history which only adds to their desirability. The painted pew has been cleaned and sanded and then the sides and back painted with in a Country Cream colour.
The pews themselves are in good sound condition. They have a lovely warm natural colour. They are beautifully solid and substantial and in great condition - not one joint has moved through age or time. There is a hymn book shelf to the rear perfect for storing books or maybe gloves and scarves if kept in a hallway. The pews are freestanding and look good from all angles. They have some marks commensurate with their grand age.
Black cast iron X shaped legs set the table and bench off perfectly. The table has a stunning solid top made from pew seats which has been reinforced to strengthen. The bench is also made from a pew seat.
