These totally unique pitch pine dining tables with benches and/or pews to match are made from matching reclaimed pews rescued from a church in Staffordshire that was about to be demolished. Ed has taken the pews and after a lot of hard work and skill, turned them into these gorgeous pieces of furniture. Each piece has been cleaned thoroughly, stripped back to the original colour, lightly sanded and Danish oil applied to bring out the grain.
The pews themselves are in excellent condition. They have a lovely warm natural colour. They are beautifully solid and substantial and in amazing condition - not one joint has moved through age or time. There is a hymn book shelf to the rear perfect for storing books or maybe gloves and scarves if kept in a hallway. The pews are freestanding and look fantastic from all angles. Ed is in awe of the original craftsmanship that went into making these pews. The condition that they are in is remarkable when you consider their age and use.
Black cast iron X shaped legs set the table and bench off perfectly. The table has a stunning heavy solid top made from pew seats. The bench is also made from a pew seat. If you’d prefer a different option of leg we can discuss this with you. Ed is also designing and making wooden ones for future options.
